I decided to have a go at creating an environment instead of constantly drawing characters. I have to admit it took me ages and I found it difficult, but overall I enjoyed it.

Truly inspirational, loving the artwork here. I mean that it's inspirational because I'm tryin' to practice doing backgrounds/buildings. I never was into doing that part of the composition, but I want to incorporate it into my works now...so I'm practicing. Anyways, really love this piece. :)

Thank you that's great to hear! I know drawing environments can seem quite daunting (I certainly used to think so), but really when you get into it, they can be a lot of fun and very satisfying.

*nods* Oh yeah. That goes for anything you draw, whether it be characters, perspective, etc. And I'm just taking my time to practice sketching them everyday when I have the chance. I get more confident the more I do so. You're welcome, and again thanks for the encouragement. It really does help! :) ;)

Awesome. I like the perspective and the fact that the piece isn't overly detailed but in my books just about right. Not distracting, but certainly nice to look at. :)

the technicality of this LOOks really good... just out of curiousity, did you use a vanishing point or were all of the angles done by eye?...

I used 2 VPs for the main structure of the buildings, but worked by eye when adding the details.

what medium did you use?
Your bilboards on the sides of the building are so perfect. Did you have an elipse template?

Thanks. This was sketched out in pencil, scanned and then colour was added using photoshop. The signs were created in photoshop, though if I was to draw them in pencil I'd probably try to do it freehand, it's more of a challenge.

Why, if it isn't STRAIGHT LINES. >O

It is some crazy building skills. I love the very pencil-y outlines.

Wow! Your use of perspective is truly amazing in this piece; I can't believe it hasn't gotten the attention it deserves! It's extremely difficult (in my opinion) to create an interesting and lifelike cityscape, but you've captured it so well...

Two small things:
(1) The white van-thing in the bottom-left corner looks as though it's about to fall over (don't ask me why I noticed this...)
(2) The signs stand out a bit too much for my liking. I think that this is because they're not hand-lettered, and because some of them lack outlines. In particular, the curved "space" sign looks like it doesn't quite belong in the piece.

But otherwise, it's beautiful... *favs* :)
